Plant Adoption at ELTE Botanical Garden

For several years now, the Plant Adoption program has been running successfully at the ELTE Botanical Garden. Through this initiative, visitors who wish to support the garden can make donations to the Foundation for the Botanical Garden, thereby contributing to its operation and maintenance.

According to the structure of the ELTE Botanical Garden’s adoption system – also based on visitor demand – every plant in the garden is available for symbolic adoption. By adopting a plant, the donor supports the non-profit Foundation for the Botanical Garden. The adoption is symbolic;the plant remains in the garden. Each adoption lasts for two years.

Books can be collected on Adopters’ Day or sent by mail.

How to Adopt a Plant

1. Choose Your Adoption Level
   • Orchid-Level Supporter – 10,000 HUF

   Adoption of smaller plants.
   The adopter receives a certificate, their name is listed on the website, and they are invited to the Adopters’ Day with free entry and a guided tour.

   • Magnolia-Level Supporter – 20,000 HUF

   Adoption of small plants or plant groups, plus a gift book of your choice.
   The adopter receives a certificate, is listed on the website, and invited to Adopters’ Day with free entry and guided tour. A gift book may be chosen: The History of the Botanical Garden or the Botanical Garden Guide.

   • Ginkgo-Level Supporter – 50,000 HUF

   Adoption of large trees or specific areas, plus a gift book.
   The adopter receives a certificate and a one-year season pass. Their name is featured on a commemorative plaque at the garden entrance and also listed on the website. They are invited to Adopters’ Day with free entry and a guided tour. A gift book may be selected (typically the Botanical Garden Guide).
   For donations exceeding 50,000 HUF, the number of season passes increases by one for every additional 50,000 HUF. Passes may be issued for multiple years or for different individuals.

2. Select a Plant or Plant Group

You can find ideas on the website or visit our Facebook page, where we regularly post new photos. Every plant in the garden is available for adoption. If you can’t decide, we’ll be happy to recommend one for you.
